So this blog is what I have set up to keep in touch with everyone during my adventures in Ghana and elsewhere. While I had planned to keep this for my own personal use so that I remember this whole experience, it honestly got to the point where I couldn’t say with a straight face that I was going to keep in touch with everyone. The blog will also hopefully be an avenue for me to keep in touch with family and friends back home.
That being said this is going to be my sounding board for musings, thoughts and general documentation of my experiences. This means that postings may at times be completely irreverent and pointless, filled with my thoughts as they flow to virtual paper. See blog for more.
So an introduction… of sorts.
I’m heading to Ghana for an internship with Journalists for Human Rights, an international development organization strongly focused on Africa. I will be working with the Centre for Human Rights and Advanced Legal Research, a legal clinic in Kumasi. Tentatively speaking, I will be working on issues related to HIV+ rights, child labour rights and/or religious freedom. However with these being more my own personal pet causes, these are likely to change according to what my supervisors have in mind for me.
I will be in Ghana for three months, and I hope to travel to other countries in West Africa at the end of the trip (Gabon, Togo, Nigeria). After that I will be in England for a weekend and then back to Toronto to get ready for Law II at the University of Windsor.
